Trail Maintenance

The Friends of Island Beach are committed to maintaining the Park's nature trails and making them accessible for all. The trails of Island Beach allow visitors to explore the many unique habitats of the barrier island, from beach to bay, maritime forest to marsh. Trail maintenance is an ongoing project that requires many volunteer hours and the generous contributions from our donors. This year, with funding from Macy's, we built boardwalks and laid crushed shell on on Tidal Pond and Spizzle Creek Trails. In 2023, we hope to receive funding to begin replacing the split rail fence along the trails.
